Shark Week is coming up, so get your DVR’s ready and get ready to be scared of the ocean for the rest of the year.
Now, you are probably asking yourself, “Ed, this is an automotive site. Why would you be posting about Shark Week?”
First off, Shark Week is badass. Why the hell wouldn’t I write about Shark Week? It is a week dedicated to carnivorous cartilaginous fish that jump out of the water whilst eating seals with rows and rows of teeth.
Secondly, I have a damn good reason: VW is creating a shark cage for Shark Week in the shape of the new VW Bug. Not only is it in the shape of the VW Bug, they are most likely going to take it the extra mile. In the video below you can see them adding a steering wheel, a diving gauge cluster, an engine of sorts and wheels.
My guess is that the Bug cage will sink to the bottom where all the sharks are. Once the wheels are touching the floor, the engine (most likely jet propulsion) will push the cage along the ocean floor.
Just a guess.
