Looks more like people just picked the most expensive and exotic cars they could think of. Not the best sounding. That Bugatti sounds terrible, and the Zonda should be way further up the list. A Mercedes SL55 AMG or C6 Corvette Z06 would have been better choices for this list. Mercedes and Chevrolet make some of the best sounding V8's on the planet!
I dont feel like an american V8 have any distintion at all (nothing against them). I believe there is a big difference between an italian V8 touching the red line over 8 thousands revs than a common american V8 stucked in 5 grands. I also believe that zonda should be a few places up. Therefore Bugatti isnt turbo whine at all it has its own sound, not as savage as a F40 but more luxuy, its progressive. Yes maybe its a poll about what people dream of but we should remember thats why those cars exists, because some people dreaming.
Looks like, as always with these polls, that people vote for their favorite car not the best sounding one. Then of course sound is personal and as such subjective not objective.
That said, I doubt that most readers have had the opportunity to hear a Zonda, the various McLaren, Lambo, Ferraris to actually make such distinctions. You may see one here and there living in bog cities but you rarely hear them. So this is just another list of what readers are dreaming off.

My thoughts exactly. Although I could probably think of a few cars more worthy of this list than the Enzo. The Bugatti is nothing but turbo whine
