A company in San Francisco has developed a program called CurbTXT that let’s you anonymously contact someone through text by texting their license plate number.
CurbTXT is perfect for when you want to warn someone that there car is about to get towed or they are about to receive a parking ticket. Also, if someone is blocking you in or is parked hazardously, you can text them to tell them to move there car.
It works only if you are enrolled in the program. To be in the program, you register your vehicle’s license plate number online and then place a small C-Text sticker on your vehicle, so people know you are involved. If someone sees this sticker and needs to warn you about something to do with your car, they text your license plate number and you receive an anonymous text. No personal information, including names or phone number, is shared with either person unless the sender or receiver identifies themselves.
Right now, the program is available only in San Francisco and the company is doing its best to register as many vehicles as possible. If the program does well in San Francisco, it will mostly likely become available in other major cities.
