Lexus LS460 TMG Edition
It’s not news that Toyotas are being tuned, but it is news that Toyota is likely to have their own in-house tuner like AMG. Toyota is hoping to turn Toyota Motorsport GmbH into a factory-backed tuner. TMG has worked on Toyota’s LeMans effort and Formula One team.
TMG is planning on having a turbocharged 1.6-liter Yaris ready for the WRC in 2014. Having test-driven a Yaris recently, I will say it will be interesting to see how they turn that car into a rally beast. The public will also be able to buy an FIA version of this rally car when it is released.
Yoshiaki Kinoshita, president of TMG, says that they will also be working on high-performance Lexus models as well. The only current TMG Lexus that we have seen is the Lexus LS460 TMG Edition, which is expected to be set for production later this year.
