If you are on a boat in the middle of nowhere, one of the last things you want to think about is the boat sinking, yet you always think about it. However, when you are on a docked boat, you never think of the boat sinking, yet I see so many submerged boats at docks.
The latest and greatest boat to go the way of the Titanic is the Sierra Rose, a $3.2 million boat. This boat is/was so big that is has its own helicopter pad. Yes, the Sierra Rose is a monster and is currently partially submerged, resting on the bottom of Lake Tahoe in the South Lake Tahoe Marina.
Apparently there was the sound of screeching coming from the boat which was followed by the sound of tearing metal. It didn’t sink quickly, and took hours for it to touch the bottom of the marina, this allowed people to stay on the boat an hour after the incident. Luckily nobody was hurt doing the incident, but I would be surprised if someone managed to get hurt on a slowly sinking boat that was docked… I have a feeling this is what the people looked like exiting the boat.

It’s not clear what caused the Sierra Rose to sink, but a private contractor is set to remove it soon and I’m sure we will find out more once it is dry-docked.
The Sierra Rose is the most expensive non-commercial boat on Lake Tahoe. Complete with granite counters, remote-controlled fireplaces, mahogany floors, a spa and custom crystal and china, the Sierra Rose is an extremely luxurious yacht. For the price of $2,000 a night, you can stay the night on this Yacht (I wouldn’t suggest doing that now) or $8,000 for four hours.
Many Lake Tahoe residents are happy that the boat sank, calling it big and ugly. One resident even said that it “was so ugly, someone had to sink it.”
