Triberg, Germany is not a very well known town and the mayor, Gallus Strobel, noticed this. Even though the world’s largest cuckoo clock and the country’s tallest waterfalls are located in Triberg, he needed something fresh. So, why not sexist parking spaces?
The idea behind these parking spaces didn’t come from a marketing standpoint, they were actually created after the newest public parking lot opened up and some of the spots were hard to get into. The women were having trouble parking in these spots and the mayor decided to do something about it. Now, the tighter and less lit spots will be specifically designated for male parking only and the well-lit, bigger spaces will be designated for women.
He says while this does give his town great publicity, it also works out well. He says his female secretary tried parking in one of the male spots five times but failed every time.
